Bob Trumpy, a former National Football League player and broadcaster and member of the Springfield Sports Hall of Fame, died Sunday at age 80. A statement from the Cincinnati Bengals says he died peacefully surrounded by family.

Trumpy was an original member of the Cincinnati Bengals, playing for the team from 1968 as a 12th-round draft pick out of the University of Utah through 1977. He grew up in Tremont and attended Springfield High School for three years.
