A federal jury has convicted a Danville man of several drug charges, including offenses committed while in a halfway house in Springfield.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of Illinois said the jury found 49-year-old Marcus “Slim” McKinney guilty of methamphetamine and cocaine distribution, drug-induced homicide and witness tampering for incidents in 2023 and 2024.

Prosecutors said while McKinney was in the Springfield halfway house, he distributed a pound of meth to a confidential source, and investigators found more than two pounds of meth and five kilograms of cocaine in Springfield storage lockers connected to him.

McKinney faces mandatory life in prison.
