Representatives from the Massey Commission presented their final report to the Sangamon County Board on Tuesday night and implored the board to act on their findings and recommendations.
Sontae Massey, Sonya Massey’s cousin said that “this work is not political. It’s not abstract. It’s human, and when the human cost is this high, the moral obligation becomes non-negotiable“.
Their proposal to create a countywide 708 mental health board was advanced Tuesday, with voters set to decide in March 2026 on a 0.5% sales tax increase to fund it.
