The Springfield Police Department has given an update on a repair voucher program that began this past June.
The program is funded by a grant from the State of Illinois.
If you’re pulled over by the SPD for an equipment violation, you could get a voucher to fix it for free.
SPD has handed out 45 vouchers across the city thus far, although only seven of them have been redeemed.
Each voucher can account for about 250 dollars’ worth of free repairs and is valid for 14 days after it has been issued.
The vouchers are only accepted at four locations across Springfield: Vern’s Auto Repair, Midas, 1 Stop Auto Shop, And Floyd Imports.
