For those who don’t know, my wife and I used to live on the gorgeous island of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Yep, paradise with palm trees, turquoise water, and sunsets that look like they were Photoshopped by Mother Nature herself. It was an amazing chapter in our lives—even though we survived not one, but two Category 5 hurricanes. (Talk about extreme weather flex, right?) But that’s a whole different story for another day.
Fast forward to now: my wife has a pretty sweet setup. She still works remotely for the same company she started with back when we lived here. Recently, they’ve been flying her down for work trips. And let me tell you, every time she packed her bags for St. Croix while I stayed home, I felt a little jealous. Okay, maybe more than a little. Like, “Why am I not sipping coconut water on the beach while answering emails?” jealous.
So this time, we made it happen. We worked out a plan for me to tag along and keep the show rolling while soaking up some island vibes. And guess what? We did it! As I type this blog, I’m sitting in the very room where my radio career began. Talk about full-circle moments. The nostalgia is hitting hard—like hearing your favorite throwback song and suddenly remembering your old ringtone.
This week is going to be packed with fun stuff:
- Cool facts about St. Croix you probably didn’t know
- How a Caribbean Christmas compares to a Midwest Christmas (spoiler: way fewer snow shovels, way more rum cake)

- And a bunch of other surprises that’ll make you want to book a flight immediately
Honestly, I feel lucky. Lucky to work for a company that lets me do things like this. Lucky to have a job that sometimes feels like an adventure. And lucky to share it all with you.
So buckle up—or, you know, loosen up your flip-flops—and get ready to see some new things. You’ll learn how people around the world celebrate one of the biggest holidays of all time: Christmas, island-style. Spoiler alert: it involves steel drums, sunshine, and zero frostbite.
Stay tuned. This week is going to be epic.
