Springfield Police are warning residents about contractors going to door-to-door to solicit business, but over-promising and under-delivering.
The department said the contractors are often performing minimal or incomplete work and charging much higher prices than the project’s value, and in one case items were stolen from a home.
Police suggest residents verify the contractor is legitimate, be cautious of immediate payment demands and avoid paying in cash, cryptocurrency or gift cards.
