Two people were arrested during a New Year’s Eve Standoff in Springfield.
The situation unfolded on the 2000 block of E. Edwards St. on Dec. 31, 2025, when police responded to a call about a person with a weapon at 9:16 p.m.
Officers surrounded the residence and used a loudspeaker to instruct the occupants to vacate the premises.
The residents complied and exited the house by 10:20 p.m. A 51-year-old man was arrested on an out-of-county warrant.
Authorities obtained a search warrant and discovered two weapons inside the home.
Juan J. Burwell, 22, was arrested for unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
