By Rocki Jan 13, 2026 | 10:57 AM
Several vervet monkeys have recently been spotted roaming neighborhoods near O’Fallon Park in St. Louis, leaving residents and local officials both puzzled and concerned.
These East African primates, known for their intelligence and agility, have so far managed to evade capture, and their exact origin remains a mystery. Wildlife experts caution that while vervet monkeys are highly clever, they can also be unpredictable, making interactions risky.
Authorities are working diligently to ensure the animals are safely contained. Once captured, the monkeys will be relocated to a certified facility equipped to provide proper care and a secure environment. In the meantime, residents are advised to avoid approaching the animals and report any sightings to local authorities.
