Unemployment in the Springfield area in November increased by half of a percentage point from a year earlier according to the Illinois Department of Employment Security and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The Springfield jobless rate in November was 4.3 percent, up from 3.8 percent in November 2024.
The area reported 112,600 nonfarm jobs in November, down about 200 over the year.
