A Springfield Catholic School that was founded in 1910 has announced that they will be closing at the end of this school year.
The press release sent out by the St. Patrick School cited long-term financial sustainability challenges as the main reason for the closure.
“This decision was made with heavy hearts,” said Erik Woehrmann, School Board President. “St. Pat’s has been more than a school – it has been a family. We are profoundly grateful for the students, families, teachers, and benefactors who have lived and supported our mission for so many years.”
The press release also added that “while the physical school will close, the mission of St. Pat’s will not end. The not-for-profit corporation that operates the school will carry on its mission by offering a St. Patrick Scholarship Program to continue supporting families seeking Catholic education for their children.”
