The National Weather Service at Lincoln has determined tornadoes touched down early Wednesday near Havana and Green Valley with wind damage from thunderstorms recorded in eastern Christian County at about 5 am.

Trees and power poles were snapped and a horse barn was partially destroyed in the Tazewell County storms.

The system produced heavier storms that tracked through Livingston and Kankakee counties with exceptionally large hail, including a possible state record hailstone with a six-inch diameter in Kankakee.

The National Weather Service at Chicago confirmed an EF-3 tornado in far eastern Illinois and northwestern Indiana, with at least two people dead in the small community of Lake Village, Indiana.
