Bill Regulating Commercial Volume on Streaming Service Moving Through Illinois Senate

By Greg Halbleib Mar 13, 2026 | 5:06 AM

A bill moving through the Illinois Senate could require streaming services to lower the volume on loud commercials.

Capitol News Illinois reports the plan would regulate the volume of ads, so they can’t be louder than shows and movies on streaming platforms like Netflix and Hulu.

The F-C-C already does this for ads on broadcast, cable and satellite.

But Senator Doris Turner says the state needs the same rules for streaming.
