By Greg Halbleib Mar 17, 2026 | 5:21 AM

The Springfield City Council on Monday approved the purchase of a new armored police vehicle at a cost of $445,000.

Alderman Roy Williams Jr. and Alderwoman Jennifer Notoriano voted against the purchase.

Alderman Brad Carlson said there’s an expectation of safety in the city with the state capitol.

The vehicle will replace a 20-year-old model that police officials say has not been fully operational.
