On Monday evening Springfield’s school district 186 voted to increase rates for their after-school program, SCOPE.
The weekly rate will go up by 5 or 10 dollars for the 2026-2027 school year, depending on the plan.
The increase according to the district is to keep up with the costs of the program.
Superintendent Jennifer Gill says the new price will keep the program “in the black”.
The district contributes funds to the program and receives some grant money as well. Other funding comes from the rates paid by parents.
