The Illinois State Police have announced that all 169 911 call centers across the state have successfully transitioned to Next Generation 911.
The Next Gen 911 system upgrades the traditional 911 service from voice-centric networks to secure, IP-based infrastructure designed to support today’s communications.
The upgrade to NG911 means people in Illinois will have more efficient and reliable 911 emergency services. NG911 also supports geospatial call routing based on the caller’s actual location.
NG911 provides redundant capabilities as well for reliable service.
