Illinois Senator Dick Durbin was in Springfield Wednesday to announce a total of $1,350,000 in federal funding he secured for Springfield projects through Congressionally Directed Spending in the Fiscal Year 2026 funding bill.
A sizeable portion of that amount will go towards replacing a 95-year-old water main on South Seventh Street between East Capitol Avenue and East Allen Street.
Another project that will be funded includes improving the Lincoln Home Visitor Center, including accessibility enhancements and updates to the public restrooms, welcome desk, exhibits, and theaters.
