Rochester High School and Jr. High were evacuated on Thursday due to a bomb threat that was reported at around 11:40a.
The Rochester School District then immediately contacted the police department and the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a news release both agencies responded quickly dispatching officers and K-9 units to thoroughly search the school facilities and vehicles on site.
No explosive devices were found, and all students and staff were safe. High school and junior high school students were released to their parents and guardians. All other buildings were able to continue with the school day.
