After overwhelming voting to authorize a strike on March 19th, the tenure/tenure-track faculty of the University of Illinois Springfield United Faculty (UISUF) will go on strike beginning FRIDAY, APRIL 3 at 9:30 AM.
This step comes after 11 months of negotiations, including sessions with a federal mediator.
According to UISUF President Dathan Powell, a professor in the Art, Music, and Theatre department the union didn’t want it to come to this and worked hard to avoid any disruption to student learning.
Powell added “When they are prepared to bargain seriously, we stand ready.”
