Drivers facing a suspended licenses could have an option to keep driving under a bill being considered in the Statehouse.

Capitol News Illinois reports the bill would allow qualifying drivers to instead have a speed control device installed in their car.

The device prevents the car from driving above the posted speed limit.

Supporters of the bill say the tool would allow people to continue their routines instead of losing driving privileges.

Drivers in Illinois can have their license suspended after two infractions for reckless driving or excessive speeding within 12 months.
