The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum has received via a donation an audience chair that was in use at Ford’s Theatre the night of Lincoln’s assassination.

The chair will go on display this summer as part of a special exhibit called “The Second American Revolution.”

The exhibit, part of Illinois’ commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, will explore how America was changed by the Civil War and the emancipation of millions of enslaved people.
