The ribbon has been cut at the Illinois State Fair. 11 days of rides, concerts, food and livestock shows await on the north side of Springfield.
The fairgrounds is the only in state fairgrounds in the nation that sits directly on Route 66 – and this year the fair’s theme is Miles of Smiles to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the highway.
State Fair Manager Rebecca Clark says the fair is always tradition – but this year is great one to start a new one.
