A Springfield man has been sentenced to nearly six years in federal prison for possession of a weapon by a felon.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of Illinois said 33-year-old Kevin Gladney threw a stolen 45-caliber semi-automatic firearm with a shoulder brace from a car he was driving that police were chasing in February 2022.
Police found the weapon after Gladney crashed the car.
A federal grand jury returned an indictment against Gladney in 2023. He was arrested in Texas in 2024 and pleaded guilty in April of this year.
Gladney was sentenced to the 70-month prison term on Tuesday in federal court in Springfield.
