Madonna To Kick Off Tour Months After Scary Hospitalization

Madonna had to postpone the start of her Celebration Tour this summer after she was hospitalized in late June for a “serious bacterial infection.” But she's now recovered and the tour kicks off tomorrow at 02 Arena in London. Musical director Stuart Price says Madonna used the break to make the show even better. “Madonna has very high expectations of how much hard work people will put into something,” he told BBC News. “It’s very uncompromising – but she’s equally as hard on herself. So when she took a break, that pause created an opportunity to further enhance the show.” Fans can expect more than 40 songs, but they won't be performed by a live band. “There are live musicians that perform at different parts of the show,” Price explained. “But what we realized is that the original recordings are our stars. Those things can’t be replicated and can’t be recreated, so we decided just to embrace that.”
