Officer resigns; charges dropped against alleged head-butt victim

A Riverton police officer charged with aggravated battery for allegedly head butting a suspect at the police station resigned Friday, according to village attorney Don Craven.Craven also said the village board will discuss the case involving former Officer Grant Peterson on Monday evening despite his resignation. Peterson, 38, will plead not guilty to aggravated battery and official misconduct, his lawyer, Greg Sronce, said.
