A hero bus driver and Iraq war veteran stopped in the middle of his route to fight off a mugger who was attempting to rob an elderly woman in Hungary.
Ex-soldier Károly Zsolt Kis was caught on his bus’ surveillance video swerving over to the side of the road to stop the thief, who was attempting to wrestle a handbag away from the gray-haired woman using a walking stick in the northeastern city of Miskolc.
Kis immediately got out to shove the mugger. He then appeared to confront the attacker, who was still loitering nearby at a safe distance. Kis then stayed with the elderly woman to make sure that she was OK, before ushering her onto his bus and continuing to drive.
The woman was said to be shaken up after the attack but not physically injured, according to local reports. Police have reportedly identified and arrested a 27-year-old man for the attempted mugging that happened at 9.30am on June 5th.
