It seems like Prince Harry & Meghan Markle (the Duke & Duchess of Sussex) just want to do good for the world and trail blaze away from the Royal world. But the process won’t be so simple.
The Duke & Duchess’s appeal for independence was formally denied by the Queen herself AND Prince Charles. What does that mean? Well, kinda complicated, but here’s what I gather: it’s not like Harry & Meghan could start their a business or charity, say, on their own COMPLETELY, because everything is “owned” by the Queen.
A source told the UK newspaper, The Sunday Times (aka: the most reliable newspaper in the country), “There is an institutional structure that doesn’t allow that kind of independence. The feeling is that it’s good to have the Sussexes under the jurisdiction of Buckingham Palace, so they can’t just go off and do their own thing.”
The Times also reported that the couple want to build a global brand of “philanthropy & activism,” but again, everything would be owned by the Royal Family. Tricky, huh?
Could this be the reason for all the Royal Angst-y behavior that’s been reported between the Sussexes and Cambridges (Will & Kate)?
