Americans consume an average 20 BILLION hot dogs a year. According to a Hormel survey, 50% of women are scared to find out what’s in hot dogs, compared to just 37% of men (of course).
So what’s in a dog that makes it so popular? Well, not much good. It’s basically just meat, meat fat, not to mention the “casings,” which is just a nicer way to say “intestines.”
But there is good news! This survey coincides with Hormel’s campaign (“The Cleaner Wiener”) to educate Americans about the brand’s non-GMO products made with grass-fed beef.
If you’re feeling curious and also aren’t hungry for a hot-dog, check out the video below from Discovery News:
So maybe opt for the hamburger instead of the hot dog at the Memorial Day cookout. Or if you do choose the hot dog, make sure it’s “The Cleaner Wiener.” -Taylor
