After a troubling year in which he was put on administrative leave and was the target of an investigation by the school district, Rochester Superintendent Dan W. Cox announced on Facebook on Wednesday night that he and the board of education had come to a “mutual separation” effective June 30, 2025.

Director of Educational Services, Suzanne Keller, has been the acting superintendent of the school district in the time since the administrative leave began in early January, 2024; the district hired the Monticello, Illinois law firm Miller, Tracy, Braun, Funk & Miller, Ltd. shortly thereafter to parse through the still-unelaborated cause of the initial administrative leave decision.
WMAY will have more on the story as more emerges.
