The Illinois Department of Transportation announced on Thursday that a 3-mile resurfacing project on Veterans Parkway (Illinois 4) from Prairie Crossing to Greenbriar Drive is set to begin Monday, July 14.
Work is expected to be completed by the end of August.
Lane closures are expected, and flaggers and cones will be used to direct traffic through the work zones. Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Other work includes sidewalk ramp improvements. Benefits of this almost $9 million project include a smoother driving surface.
To avoid the work area, when feasible, the use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices, and be alert for workers and equipment.
