National settlements worth about 720 million dollars with eight pharmaceutical opioid manufacturers have been announced by a coalition of state attorneys general including Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul. Illinois could receive about 23 million dollars. The settlements will be paid in varying time periods up to nine years. Raoul’s office said national litigation with companies over the opioid crisis have led to 50 billion dollars in settlements with Illinois’ share at about 1.4 billion dollars.
