The Springfield Lucky Horseshoes are proposing new ownership for Robin Roberts Stadium.
A proposal to the Springfield Park District Board from Horseshoes co-owner Jamie Toole ask the park board to transfer ownership to a nonprofit organization called Friends of Robin Roberts Stadium. This foundation would be composed of local business leaders and sports figures.
The main snag maybe the fact that according to the Springfield Park Board the Illinois Park District Code restricts their ability to directly sell or transfer real estate to nonprofit organizations. However, the Park Board did confirm that negotiations are underway between the Park District, the non-profit Friends of Robin Roberts Stadium, and the City of Springfield.
