Illinois Senator Dick Durbin is speaking out against the possibility of the government cutting nearly $700 million from public institutions, including broadcast entities like NPR, as well as foreign aid programs.
Durbin said “As we step away from this responsibility, the Chinese are stepping in. Make no mistake, they are finding a way to get ahead of us around the world and this is an opportunity to do that.”
Durbin announced earlier this year he will not be seeking re-election.
