Governor JB Pritzker is not ruling out redrawing Illinois’ congressional districts to increase the number Democrats in Congress.
Capitol News Illinois reports Pritzker made the comments in response to a special session in Texas this week where Republican lawmakers could redraw maps to add more Republican-leaning districts in the state.
Pritzker said Texas is “cheating.” Illinois Republican leaders blasted Pritzker’s comments. The governor signed Illinois’ maps in 2021 that independent experts have said were heavily gerrymandered to favor Democrats.
