[Update] Two People Injured in Sangamon Towers Fire: One Man Arrested for Arson

A fire in a 10th floor apartment at Sangamon Towers on Fourth Street in Springfield on Wednesday morning injured two people.

Sprinklers contained the blaze until fire crews arrived.

Two people suffered mild burns and were taken to HSHS St. John’s Hospital for treatment.

62-year-old Joseph Johnson of Springfield is in the Sangamon County Jail on arson charges for starting the fire.
