The chairman of the Texas Republican Party says he thinks the GOP can win Illinois in a statewide race next year, despite the party’s lack of success in recent elections.
Capitol News Illinois reports Abraham George spoke Thursday to a joint meeting of the Illinois Republicans’ state central committee and county chairmen. The meeting took place ahead of Republican Day at the Illinois State Fair.
George said Donald Trump’s performance in Illinois in the 2024 election, when he received 43 percent of the vote, is a signal that Republicans have a strong base of support across the state.
