Why Therapy Is One of the Best Things You Can Do for Your Health

By Rocki Aug 18, 2025 | 8:57 AM

Therapy is one of the most powerful tools we have—not just for mental health, but for overall well-being. It’s easy to overlook how deeply our mental state affects our physical health. You might be someone who eats well, exercises regularly, and still finds yourself struggling physically because your emotional and psychological needs aren’t being addressed.

Right now, I’m between therapists. I’d love to go consistently, but as many people know, therapy isn’t always the most affordable option. Still, when you can make it work, I truly believe it’s worth fitting into your life—even if you don’t feel like anything is “wrong.” Talking things through with a professional can be incredibly grounding and insightful.

The Anxiety of Starting Over

One thing that’s held me back from jumping back into therapy is the anxiety around finding a new therapist. It can feel overwhelming. And I think a lot of people don’t realize that it’s okay to switch therapists if the first one doesn’t feel like the right fit. You’re not obligated to stick with someone who doesn’t align with your needs or values.

Finding the Right Fit

When choosing a therapist, it’s important to find someone who resonates with your worldview and challenges you in meaningful ways. Therapy isn’t always easy—it’s work. Sometimes it involves stepping outside your comfort zone, and that’s where growth happens.

You also want to feel safe and comfortable. You’ll be sharing intimate parts of your life, and if you don’t feel at ease with your therapist, it can hinder your progress. Trust and connection are key.

Don’t Settle

Take the time to find the right person. Don’t settle. When you build a relationship with a therapist who truly understands and supports you, the breakthroughs you experience can be life-changing—not just for you, but for your relationships, your health, and your overall quality of life.
