The Village of Chatham in conjunction with the Chatham Fire Department has issued a burn ban for within the boundaries of Chatham.
According to a press release the burn ban is a direct result of the ongoing drought like conditions the area has been experiencing.
The burn ban includes residential yard waste and the open burning of agricultural waste.
The ban is scheduled to be in effect for 14 days and may be extended if drought conditions persist.
Athens has also issued a burn ban, including all open burning. This includes brush piles, bonfires, fire pits, and burn barrels.
