The Springfield Police Department reports that at approximately 4:46 AM September 13, 2025, officers responding to the scene of a reported stabbing in the 400 block of N. 4th Street found a male victim with life-threatening injuries reportedly consistent with a sharp edged object.
The victim was transported to an area hospital, but ultimately died as a result of his injuries.
The Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene to conduct an investigation of the incident. That investigation remains ongoing; additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
The victim’s identification will released by the Sangamon County Coroner’s Office.
