Gas prices in Illinois are down .5 cents a gallon since last week according to GasBuddy.com.
The average price for a gallon in Illinois currently stands at $3.43 a gallon. Despite being down since last week that price is 1.1 cents higher than last month and 2.4 cents higher than the same time last year.
Nationwide the average price for a gallon of gas stands at $3.12 a gallon according to GasBuddy.com.
