Illinois has joined a growing list of states that are issuing their own vaccination guidelines.
Capitol News Illinois reports Governor JB Pritzker issued an executive order recently that directs the Illinois Department of Public Health to work with other state agencies to develop those guidelines. Pritzker said his order is intended to make sure Illinois residents continue to have access to vaccines for the flu, COVID-19 and other common illnesses.
He said the order was made necessary after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced stricter guidelines for who should get the updated COVID-19 vaccine. He also criticized Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Junior for firing top administrators at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
