The total number of nonfarm payrolls in Illinois decreased by 13,300 in August according to the Illinois Department of Employment Security.
The state unemployment rate last month was 4.4 percent, down two-tenths of a percentage point from July. Sectors with the largest number of job losses over the month were trade, transportation and utilities; private education and health services; and professional and business services.
The largest number of job increases over the month were in information, manufacturing and construction.
