Trump Administration Agrees to Extension of Judge’s Temporary Block of National Guard Troops to Chicago

The Trump administration has agreed to an extension of a judge’s temporary block on deploying the National Guard to Chicago while the U.S. Supreme Court weighs the case.

Capitol News Illinois reports the administration appealed to the high court last week asking the justices to allow the immediate deployment of troops while the case goes through the legal process.

President Trump’s early October orders seeking deployment of 300 Illinois National Guardsmen and 200 troops from Texas have been on hold since a Chicago federal judge’s October 9th restraining order.

Despite the administration’s claims of violent protests, U.S. District Judge April Perry ruled she saw no evidence that — quote — “there is a danger of rebellion in the state of Illinois.”
