A car hit a house on the 800 block of S. 23rd St early Wednesday morning in Springfield.
The incident took place around 2:30a. The impact knocked the gas meter off the home.
Springfield police and fire crews responded to the scene. The car drove off. No one was reported injured and Ameren was able to contain the gas leak within an hour.
An investigation into the incident continues.
