Ah, the holiday season. A time for joy, giving, and losing your mind trying to find the perfect gift for your significant other or children. We’ve all been there. As we dive into the chaos of holiday planning, I wanted to take a step back and look at the holiday stress and reflect on our conversation last week with Rae-Anne Dutz.
The Holiday Stress Trifecta:
- Family gatherings: Where you get to regress and feel like a teenager again, with the whining and door slamming involved.
- Gift shopping: Because nothing says “I love you” like a last-minute, overpriced gift box of salami and cheese (Uncle Jim, I’ve been vegan for 15 years.)
- Social obligations: Where you pretend to enjoy small talk with acquaintances while secretly counting down the minutes until you can go home and watch the new Frankenstein movie on Netflix.
So, How Do We Survive This Holiday Madness?
- Set boundaries: It’s okay to say no to that holiday party or family gathering. Your mental health is worth more than a obligatory appearance.
- Prioritize self-care: Take a few minutes each day to breathe, meditate, or do whatever helps you relax. Even if it’s just scrolling through hoof cleaning videos – we don’t judge here at 98.7 WNNS.
- Laugh often: Find the humor in the chaos. Laugh at the absurdity of it all – like that one family member who still thinks farts are funny. (It’s Rocki.)
A Holiday Survival Tip:
When feeling overwhelmed, take a deep breath and remind yourself: it’s just one day at a time. And if all else fails, there’s always wine (or hot cocoa, if you’re feeling fancy).
You Got This!
The holiday season may be chaotic, but with a few simple strategies, you can maintain your sanity and even find some joy. Remember, it’s okay to not have it all together. Happy holidays from our WNNS family to yours!
