The Illinois Department of Public Health is reminding folks about food borne illness as well as safe and proper meal preparation this Thanksgiving holiday.
The biggest tips are to make sure you thaw your turkey before cooking and make sure the turkey’s internal temperature after cooking is at least 165 degrees.
Other tips from IDPH include keeping hot foods hot and cold foods cold.
IDPH also reminds you to never thaw your turkey by leaving it out on the counter.
