A potential active shooter situation at the Decatur Civic Center on Tuesday was deemed a false alarm.
The Decatur Police Department stated that an internal alert system at the center’s offices alerted officers to a potential active shooter situation.
Several officers arrived on the scene, and DPD eventually determined it was a false alarm after securing the area.
Decatur police found there was no real threat, and the building and area were deemed safe.
Police are working to figure out what caused the false alarm.
