New details are emerging about the death of Rochester High School student Jack Zucco over the weekend.
According to a report from the Jo Daviess County Sheriff, where Zucco passed, “on February 13, 2026, at approximately 9:08 p.m., Jo Daviess County Dispatch received a 911 call regarding a possible drowning at Chestnut Mountain Resort. Upon arrival, it was determined a juvenile had been swimming in a pool when it appeared the juvenile lost consciousness.”
The report added that Zucco was removed from the pool by another juvenile prior to emergency personnel arriving.
EMS began life-saving measures until an air ambulance could arrive, but Zucco was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Jo Daviess Sheriff’s Office said the incident remains under investigation.
