Downtown Springfield Inc. is searching for its next executive director.
The non-profit downtown advocacy organization announced Tuesday morning that Carlos Ortega exits the position in a mutual separation after serving for two years in the role.
DSI Director of Communications Jay Shanle has been appointed as interim executive director as the firm Always On Consulting begins the search process.
Shanle is also co-chair of the Downtown Alliance, a group working to implement the master plan for the Downtown Springfield and Mid-Illinois Medical District.
Ortega is credited with executing grant funding and expanded SNAP benefits for the Old Capital Farmers Market as well as DSI’s transition to a 501(c)(3) organization.
