Republicans quickly responded that Pritzker is deflecting state issues onto Trump.
House Republican Norine Hammond says Pritzker is more focused on running for president than focusing on the issues in Illinois. “Governor Pritzker and his democrat allies need to stop blaming President Trump for the problems they themselves have created.”
State Representative Mike Coffey told Patrick Pfingsten on WMAY’s PM Springfield that Pritzker continues to propose new taxes. “He’s been in office for almost eight years and the budget has increased $16 billion. Cost of living is the most important thing we’re dealing with here and I don’t see where this budget helps that.”
State lawmakers will now begin their own negotiations to pass a budget before session ends on May 31st.
