Republican candidates for Sangamon County sheriff say they are able to improve hiring practices in the department.
The candidates spoke individually with Patrick Pfingsten on WMAY’s AM Springfield on Tuesday.
Incumbent Sheriff Paula Crouch said she has implemented more in-depth background checks.
Challenger and former deputy David Timm said he questioned the hiring of Sean Grayson well before Grayson shot and killed Sonya Massey.
The primary election is March 17
